Why book a professional family photoshoot

There is a common misconception about family photoshoots being cheesy and awkward and for some, yes, this can be the case if you’re being asked to pose unnaturally or taken out of your usual environment, but with a little flexibility and forward planning, they can be the most perfect memories.

Here are my top reasons for capturing the family on camera:

1. Capture it while you can

Families are forever changing and growing for one reason or another. Children grow up, older relatives pass away or new additions arrive so it’s important to capture that moment in time while you have it. It would be awful to look back and wish you had taken a few snaps while you could.

2. Huge fun for the family

It can be so hard to get children to play along when you’re asking them to pose. But get them to act natural in a park or play with some toys and Mum and Dad in frame to give them a tickle or a hug, it can just feel like a normal day out (but with someone watching and snapping the perfect moment!)

3. Long lasting memories

Parents can often be the ones behind the lens if it’s a quick snap taken on the phone or at least one family member has to miss out on the snapshot of the memory. Professional photos will be sure to include everyone and something you can keep forever for the wall at home, a lovely album or to create some lovely personalised cards.

4. Personalised Gifts

Many of us have extended family that maybe we don’t see too often because of distance (or a pesky pandemic). Creating photographic moments that can be printed, sent in the post, printed onto a mug or just sent by email can sometimes narrow that distance we can feel when we really miss someone.

5. I hate having my picture taken

I hear this a lot! But let me assure you that professional photographers know what they’re doing when it comes to capturing that special moment or ensuring you don’t end up with any awkward smiling (like Chandler from Friends). Candid is the way to go and I can certainly help you to achieve this.
Your children will be forever grateful to have those precious photos of you one day.

So, there we have my top 5 reasons. I hope they have helped you decide!
