My top reasons to book a newborn photoshoot

You’ve just spent the best part of 9 months (maybe even a little longer!) carrying around this precious bundle of joy that you can’t wait to meet. For the impatient among us, you may have even spent the majority of your pregnancy wishing it away just you can meet the little guy or gal! I know I did!

And then, Bam! They arrive and throw your whole world upside down (in the best possible way of course), but you realise just how much of an impact they have made already! Whether you’re trying to get to grips with breastfeeding or just generally get some uninterrupted sleep, there are lots of things to think of.

Often, getting a few snaps taken of the new arrival can be put on the back burner and before you know it, they’re 6 months old, sitting up and even starting to have a chat. They’re no longer that teeny tiny baby that you wish you’d had the chance to snap before they got too big! So my advice is to always make time for a quick shoot, they can be as short or as long as you like and of course we make time for a quick feed here and there or a little cuddle if baby needs comforting!

Here are my top 5 reasons to get a photo session done of your newborn:

1. They’re only this tiny for a short amount of time! We all saw it with Covid 19 – time went so fast and I had lots of new Mums miss out on the chance to get their snaps taken. Keep your teeny tiny memories of just how small their fingers and toes were forever.

2. The props you can adorn your new born with are really quite something and the best part? They can’t even argue just yet! Want a pretty floral headband for them to wear? Sorted. Want them to be snuggling up to your own childhood cuddly bear, of course! Blankets, bows, booties, colour schemes, there are so many ways to style something beautiful!

3. Posing can be tricky! They are extremely precious. Professional photographers like myself know the ins and outs of proper posing both to keep baby safe and to get the cutest ever shots. Having someone confident in this area is only going to put your mind at rest too.

4. There is a better way of announcing the birth than with a hospital shot of baby fresh out of the womb! Or maybe you want to say ‘thanks a million’ to some friends and family who have treated baby to lots of new goodies? Whatever you’d like to use them for, they’re a much more beautiful way to announce the birth and show off just how gorgeous they are!

5. This reason is my favourite… I can’t think of a better way to embarrass them when they are older and perhaps decide to bring home a potential partner for the first time and there are new born shots adorning the walls of the hallway. Chubby cheeks, bendy limbs and gorgeous props, all on display!
